Masonic Attendance Project (MAP)

Who is in the lead? Registered users tap here to open the App then tap on Leaderboard

The Masonic Attendance Project (MAP) is a fun competition to see who can visit the most Mark and RAM Lodges within the Province of North Wales during the 2026-2027 masonic season.

The goal is to visit as many different Mark and RAM Lodges as you can by the date of the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting in June 2027. Whoever records the most visits will win. If more than one person visits the same number of Lodges then whoever was first to reach that number wins.

It is very simple to take part – all you need is a mobile phone (Android or Apple) and a willingness to visit as many different Mark and RAM Lodges as you can.

The basics idea
Each Lodge has been issued with its own unique QR code which the Secretary/Scribe will display next to the Tyler’s Book (signature book) on Lodge nights.

When you attend a Lodge meeting (including your own), simply scan the QR code with your phone’s Camera App and follow the link to launch the special MAP App to record your visit. The goal is to visit as many different Lodges as possible, so only your first visit to a particular Lodge will count – scanning the same Lodge’s QR code multiple times won’t increase your visit score.

There’s no App to be installed
The MAP App does not need to be installed – you don’t need to download it from the App Store or Google Play. Instead it is a special type of internet App that opens automatically when you scan a QR code. You do need a good mobile signal or WiFi internet access for it to work though – the MAP App can’t open and record your visit otherwise.

You will need to Register on first use
After scanning your first Lodge QR code you’ll be asked to Register. You only ever need to do this once and it only takes a minute. Your visit will then be automatically recorded, as will visits to other Lodges when you scan their QR codes.

How to use MAP to record your visits

1Scan the Lodge's QR code

Point your phone's camera at the MAP poster and tap the link that appears.

There's no app to install.

You need internet access (mobile signal or Wi-Fi) for this to work.

2Tap Register

Use the Register button under First time using MAP?

Don't type into the login boxes. They are for members who have already registered.

Later visits

At each Lodge you visit, scan its MAP QR code in the same way.

  • MAP normally keeps you logged in on your phone, so the visit is recorded as soon as you scan and you see Visit recorded!
  • If MAP asks you to log in, skip the First time using MAP? section. Under Already registered?, enter the email address and password you registered with and tap Log in. Your visit is recorded as soon as you have logged in, so there is no need to scan again.

Seeing your visits and the leaderboard at any time

You don't need to be at a Lodge. Open MAP on your phone, tablet or computer:

Open MAP
or type map2.northwalesmark.co.uk into your web browser.

If you see the Login page, tap Log in and enter the email address and password you registered with.

Tip: save MAP as a bookmark, or add it to your phone's home screen from your browser's menu, so you can find it again easily.

How scoring works

  • Your score is the number of different Lodges you have visited. Mark Lodges and Royal Ark Mariner Lodges both count.
  • Each Lodge counts once. Scanning a Lodge you have already recorded doesn't add to your score, and MAP will tell you "You have already recorded a visit to this lodge."
  • The leaderboard ranks members by the number of different Lodges visited. If two members have visited the same number, whoever reached that number first is placed higher.
  • Only members with at least one recorded visit appear on the leaderboard. Members are shown by their initials, which are taken from the full name you register with, so "John Robert Smith" appears as JRS.

If something goes wrong

My camera doesn't do anything when I point it at the code

Some phones' camera apps don't read QR codes. Use a QR scanning app such as Google Lens instead. The code is an ordinary web link, so any scanner that opens links will work.

MAP says I appear to be offline

Your phone has no internet connection at the moment. Check your mobile signal or connect to the venue's Wi-Fi, then scan the code again.

MAP says "A timeout occurred"

Registration has to be completed shortly after you scan the code. Scan the QR code again and register straight away.

MAP says "You are already Registered!"

You registered on an earlier visit. Log in with the email address and password you chose when you registered.

I've forgotten my password

MAP can't show or send you your password, because it is never stored in readable form, but it can be reset for you. Please email it@northwalesmark.co.uk.

MAP says the competition is not currently active

The Province has paused the recording of visits, so scans are not being recorded at the moment.

Anything else

Please email it@northwalesmark.co.uk.

Your information

Other members only ever see your initials and your Mother Lodge, and only on the leaderboard. Your full name, email address and visit records are available to Provincial administrators and, where relevant, Lodge Secretaries. Full details are in the MAP Privacy Policy.
