On Monday 5th November the regular meeting of Buckley Mark Lodge was “called off” in order to receive a delegation from the Holywell Air Cadets Squadron.
This consisted of the Commanding Officer, Darren Anglesea, accompanied by three members of the squadron consisting of two girls and a boy the eldest being 16 years of age.
They were given a warm welcome by the Worshipful Master and Brethren and made to feel at ease.
With the assistance of a slide show the young Air Cadets gave a presentation and explanation of their activities in an excellent manner which was appreciated and enjoyed by the Brethren. Buckley Lodge’s connection with this Squadron is due to the fact that two of its members, Bro. David Anglesea and Bro. Alan Gardner, are the Chairman and Treasurer respectively of the Civilian Committee.
It was good to see the confidence portrayed by these young people and the Worshipful Master and Brethren showed their appreciation at the conclusion of the presentation.
The raffle at the Festive Board raised the sum of £200 which has been donated to the Holywell Air Cadets.
The Holywell cadets have recently been awarded the LEES trophy as the best small squadron ( under 40 members) in the UK – beating 1000 other squadrons.
